  Special Cover: The issue of marital rape in India Marital rape remains an issue in the under-provisioned backgrounds of Kerala. Many marital rape victims are afraid to speak about their plight to mainstream society. The India  Bulletin  wants to know why marital rape remains an issue in Indian societies. Ms. X (names changed under request) from the rural area of Malapurram is nursing her injuries. The 18-year-old girl was the brightest of her peers in academics. However, her poor parents married her off to Y who earned a respectable income from an overseas Middle-Eastern job. From day one, it was hell for the new bride. She had complained to her in-laws about persistent bleeding from private parts. However, they largely ignored her. Finally, she summoned the courage to notify her parents. However, Mr. Y divorced her on grounds that his bride did not consent to intercourse with him. Ironically, the divorced bride is happy. She aspires to continue her education and become an advocate.

  Assam groups threaten to block entry to Meghalaya Garo Hills:  Forty  different Assam groups have threatened to block all routes leading to Garo Hills District of Meghalaya. The Assam groups have threatened to block routes from October 29. The decision comes in the wake of the continued restrictions that restrict the entry of people to Meghalaya. Various organizations like All Assam Students Union (AASU), All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), All Moron Trade Students Union (AMSU), and other trade associations. The student body which met at the Golpara District of Assam to initiate the decision. They have urged the states to hold discussions to facilitate movement between the states.   Editors Guild on Republic TV & Mumbai Police debacle New Delhi: The Editors Guild had strongly reprimanded the actions of the  Mumbai  police against the Republic TV’s journalists. However, the Editors Guild has also admonished the channel to foster a more responsible attitude. The intervention from the Editors Guild came after the Mumbai Police had registered FIR against prominent members of the channel. The organization requested the authorities to stop the “victimization of journalists”. The investigation carried out should not ultimately result in the suppression of press rights. Editors Guild’s comments come after the Reporters without Borders survey, where India has lost two places in the global press freedom index ranking.  However, the press release by the Editors Guild also reminded journalists of media credibility.  Jammu and Kashmir police Monday detained three BJP leaders from Kupwara who tried raise tricolour at the Clock tower, Lal Chowk, Srinagar, officials said. They said that three BJP leaders from the party’s  Kupwara unit reached Lal Chowk, near clock tower ( Ghanta Ghar) this morning. The three included the party spokesman from Kupwara Mir Basharat, and two other leaders—Mir Ishfaq and Akhtar Khan. Before they were stopped by police, Basharat said they came to  Lal Chowk to hoist Tricolour to send a message to members of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar declaration that only national flag will remain in Kashmir. “Today we came to celebrate the day when Maharaja Hari Singh signed the instrument of accession with the Centre. Our message is for Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Abdullah and all other members of PAGD, that only tricolour will be unfurled in Kashmir,” he said.   Shocker for govt employees in J&K: Now govt can retire any employee after 22 yrs of service or 48 yrs of age Srinagar:   Jammu and Kashmir government has amended the service rules under which it can now retire any government employee after 22 years of Service or after attaining the age of 48 years. As per the latest order, the amendments have been made in article 226 (2) of J&K Civil Services regulation to make regular register. Here are the details: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, on the orders of Lieutenant Governor, has introduced certain substitutes in 226(2) Article of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service Regulations.   ‘Covid Patient death due to negligence’, Clarifies Doctor Ernakulum: A Covid patient’s death in Kerala occurred due to negligence. A doctor from   Kalamassery Medical College  has confirmed that the Covid patient had died due to negligence. Dr. Najma from Kalamassery Medical College has clarified that the  Covid patient's death due to negligence from the concerned personnel. Though he had a mask, the ventilator tube was not connected. This had implicated in the death of the patient. Earlier, an audio clip had surfaced which claimed that a Covid patient, who underwent treatment in the hospital had died due to a disconnected ventilator tube. Based on the audio clip, the Health Minister KK Shailaja had prompted the suspension of the nursing officer. However, the RMO,   Dr. Ganesh Mohan , had taken a stance that was supportive of the nursing officer, over the Covid patient's death due to medical negligence. He said that the nursing officer in question was on leave for one month
