  ‘Covid Patient death due to negligence’, Clarifies Doctor Ernakulum: A Covid patient’s death in Kerala occurred due to negligence. A doctor from   Kalamassery Medical College  has confirmed that the Covid patient had died due to negligence. Dr. Najma from Kalamassery Medical College has clarified that the  Covid patient's death due to negligence from the concerned personnel. Though he had a mask, the ventilator tube was not connected. This had implicated in the death of the patient. Earlier, an audio clip had surfaced which claimed that a Covid patient, who underwent treatment in the hospital had died due to a disconnected ventilator tube. Based on the audio clip, the Health Minister KK Shailaja had prompted the suspension of the nursing officer.   Trivandrum: Onion, a staple vegetable in   Keralite households,   has been experiencing a spike in price. A kilogram of onion sold for Rs. 96 in the state, yesterday. The price of onion increased at least by Rs. 52 per kg. Last week, the vendors sold onion for Rs. 40-44 per kilogram. Shallots, a variant of onion, have also experienced an increase in spike. One kilogram of shallots will cost Keralites Rs. 90-100. Dealers attribute the increase in onion prices to the rains and floods that have destroyed most onion crops. According to them, at least 40 percent of the product has been lost to the rains and floods. Usually, onion prices go up when the production of white onions (Pune onions) decrease. However, the red onion variety from Andra Pradesh will keep the price hike under control.   Trivandrum:   Kerala Chief Minister , Pinarayi Vijayan has responded to the Union Health Minister’s remarks on the state’s Covid prevention strategy. The CM has responded that some people cannot focus on the state’s achievements on the low Covid mortality rate. Instead, they are in the pursuit of defaming the state. Earlier, Harsh Vardhan had criticized the state for easing restrictions during the Onam festivities. The ease of restrictions had contributed to a spike of Covid cases in Kerala. Harsh Vardhan had commented, “Kerala is paying the price for gross negligence during recent Onam festivities when state-wise unlocking of services with an increase in inter and intrastate travel for trade and tourism led to the spreading of COVID-19 cases.
