Taiwan to set up large scale production bases in India

New Delhi:  Taiwan is looking ahead to set up production bases in India under a “new southbound policy”. The New Delhi-Taipei Engagement will see joint-efforts by both nations to develop and strengthen industrial ties.

Taiwan, a global hi-tech heavyweight looks at India as a key partner in the Asia-Pacific region, to collaboratively work with. Both democracies with identical ideologies aim to reach a common objective in the region after having strained relations with China. India’s representative to Taiwan, Gourangalal Das, said that Taiwan's unique position as a global technology supplier can be leveraged to serve India’s aspirations.

The nation can take this opportunity to emerge as the next key global manufacturing hub. Das, also highlighted that Indian software firms will amalgamate with Taiwan’s hardware industry to co-develop future tools for various industries. Besides software and hardware, the nations will also focus on automobiles, agriculture, medicine, skill training, and industrial automation.

Taiwan is looking ahead at the Indo-Pacific quad initiative between India, Australia, Japan, and the United States as a harbinger of futuristic partnership for the development of progressive economic ties.  The Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen had earlier, tweeted appreciation on the Indian citizens for backing Taiwan during tensions with China in the Taiwan Strait.
